It matches with Lunala's shiny without making it forced, red stars exist in the real world and they're called Red Giants! ,I tend to not see much referencing them though :/
Lunala's blood moon and Solgaleo's red giant go incredible together, the purple compliments it a lot, and the color scheme makes it feel alien to other shinies, something that I love when Ultra Beasts do

This is the worst shiny in Pokémon, period. It’s genuinely so appalling, every single time I lay my eyes on this… thing, I feel physically ill. That horrid bright red makes me feel like my eyes are burning, which, I guess kinda fits the concept of its design, being a sun and all.
The over-abundance of that sickly red makes it feel like the tracheas to my lungs are shriveling shut, because it’s absolute gaudiness leaves me breathless with disdain.
The very thought of this shiny leaves a smudge in my eye that you get when you stare at a light for too long. Even a blind person would find this shiny nasty.
Just looking at this thing is too much of a compliment, I recently started studying at Harvard so I could find out the formula for memory erasure, just so I don’t have to think about this overly sun burned skin colored lion.
My hatred for the shiny Solgaleo runs so deep that in my bloodstream that I changed the color of my blood just because it reminded me of it. Whenever I get in a fistfight with some weird dude who thinks “shiny Solgaleo isn’t that bad,” there’s green all over the floor, along with that poor guy with awful taste.
Shiny Solgaleo has altered my entire genetic code so much that my children are going to have a natural predisposition to hate shiny Solgaleo so much that if they were to even think of them, it would send them into a frantic frenzy leading to the death of thousands.
Shiny Solgaleo is such a horrendous, garish shade of red, that its very existence is an affront to not only God, but the universe as a whole. Every time I think about this shiny, I feel a part of my soul crumble away, or at least whatever is left of it that the greedy bastard didn’t already rip from me.
This shiny has had such an impact on me that I can immediately sense whether someone likes it or not, just based on the genetic makeup of their skin cells.
The designer that created this abomination made it specifically to torture me. This shiny feels like when you accidentally scratch a pimple in your ear, dialed up by nine thousand.

Ehhhhh...? Its not great but not as bad as people exagerate, i get that they tried to go for the red giant star theme but it doesnt work as good as the bloodmoon works on lunala, still hunting it bcs its my favourite legend
