Gen 1 shinies are often a little underwhelming but Charizard looks awesome – I wish they'd gone with more of a true black, but it's still super cool.

Much more badass than the original Barney ah shiny Charizard. Nevertheless, even though it’s incredible, I can’t give it 5*s simply based on the fact that they changed the shiny colors later on.

Very recognizable.

Color balance: Pass

The first shiny with genuinely good color balance. The contrast is good at gives a nice dark dragon vibe compared to Charizard's normal bright palette.

Aesthetic quality: Pass

The first truly good looking shiny. As noted it gives a dark dragon vibe. It doesn't have the piss color. It's not a pale or sickly green. It's just a good looking and thought out design.

Improvement over original: Pass

Subjective but this version is way cooler. The orange always looked just a little cartoony. The darker colors here help bring out a more serious vibe. Very fitting for a dragon (if it isn't technically).
