    The green makes it have a mossy look to it. It makes me imagine an Onix that lives in a forest and has moss and vines growing all over it.

The shiny version of Onix in Pokémon GO was released on 04-06-2019.
Onix was originally discovered in the Kanto region. The main color of shiny Onix is green. The typing of this Pokémon is ground and rock. The Pokédex number of Onix is #95. In the dex they call Onix the Shadow Pokémon
