It's not the worst, but even on shinyrating.com it can be hard to initially tell the difference when it's small.

Color balance: Pass

The contrast is better than with the normal shiny, though the head and tail spikes do not look good on a white background, and light backgrounds are probably going to come up more often than not.

Aesthetic quality: Pass

The aesthetics work okay. It does remind me of a wiggler from Mario a little bit.

Improvement over original: Fail

The original is just so good. Watch the fainting animation in Battle Revolution if you don't believe me. Those red little stubby legs are good looking as Weedle wriggles. The pink nipple-y legs just don't have the same feeling.
