Fantastic! Can forgive the green not changing much because purple and black is such a wonderful combination! And I think the green changes just enough to be noticeable anyway.
Just for fun some other rose color suggestions: Pink and white, Black and Brown (wilted), Yellow and Orange. Purple and black is definitely the most interesting though, very mysterious.
