Spectacular

for once i actually wish it was green to match with ekans. that being said its not a bad color. i like the indigo. overall its a little plain

I was going to rate this lower, but as I looked at it some more, I realized the gold & blue was reminiscent of ancient Egyptian designs, which is incredibly fitting. It's not exactly my cup of tea, but it's a very respectable shiny.

I can sort of see them doing this to make it look more like a real cobra, but the execution, is... not it.

Recognizability: Pass

The gold and blue is a noticeable difference from the purple and red.

Color balance: Fail

The blacks are more faded and stand out less, and if they were darker it would look much better. The little specks of blue on the eyebrows of the "face" also contrast poorly with the black, making them more blurry and less distinct than the red on the neutral Arbok.

Aesthetic quality: Pass

Gold Arbok just looks good. It's a nice shade of gold and the blue tones with it just work.

Enjoyment over original: Pass

What can I say? This is a fun design.

Lose a little contrast by going from three colors to two, but I still love it.
