Biased because Totodile is my favorite starter, but I think the shiny is just as great! This angle doesn't do it justice, the contrast of the blue spikes on its back really pull it all together. It stands out more in game than these still images, I really like it!

Personally my favorite version of shiny Totodile is in Gen 4 and 5 sprite art since its more saturated and suits its peppy personality better. Pokemon Go is a bit more desaturated but Its kind of nice how it makes it look like the original GSC's green color.

I'm stumped how I would overhaul it if I were choosing the shiny colors which marks a great shiny imo. A minor tweak would be to give it a different eye color like golden, copper, or swamp green, but I think keeping them red in the shiny is fine too.

Just for fun and inspired by a tidbit of speculation on Bulbapedia: I am curious how it would look with a darker, forest green with its chest scales a more saturated yellow like a baby American Alligator. I'd also be curious about a paler green, almost white so it looks albino.

I like the blue better because the green just makes it look like a crocodile.
